APPALACHIA: A SOUTHEASTERN WIND SYMPHONY Presents “Holiday Spectacular”


SEYMOUR, TN -  November 28, 2023  - Appalachia: A Southeastern Wind Symphony kicks off their sixth season with “Holiday Spectacular” Featuring many of your favorite holiday tunes performed by collegiate musicians and young professionals from across the southeast, the concert will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 7:00 PM at Seymour High School in Seymour, Tennessee.


Musical selections include “A Christmas Fantasy” by Jim Curnow, “Christmas Overture” by Samuel-Coleridge Taylor,  and “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed, along with arrangements of “Concert Suite/The Polar Express,” “O Holy Night,” “Celtic Carol,” and “A Hanukkah Festival.”


Artistic Director, and graduate of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Logan Campbell, will lead the ensemble of students from colleges across the southeast in a concert about faith and hope for the future. 


“Holiday Spectacular” will be held at Seymour High School. Concert will be at 7:00 PM, doors open at 6:30 PM. The concert is free and open to the public, with a suggestion donation of $10 or more.

Same Selections; Different Sound

Appalachia: A Southeastern Wind Symphony kicks off their sixth season with “Same Selections; Different Sound.” Featuring works old and new performed by collegiate musicians and young professionals from across the southeast, the concert will be held October 22, 2023 3:30 PM at First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge.

Musical selections include arrangements of “Canzon Duodecimi Toni a8” by Giovanni Gabrieli, “La Clemenza di Tito Overture” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and “Now Lettest Thou Depart from All Night Vigil” by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The second half of the concert will transcend the audience with reflective and ethereal pieces, including “After Sunset” by Werner de Bleser, Episode by Tyler Mazone, and “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen.

Bookmarks from Japan

Appalachia: A Southeastern Wind Symphony, in conjunction with the Knoxville Asian Festival presents, "Bookmarks from Japan."

Saturday February 11, 7:00 PM EST at Knoxville Catholic High School in St. Gregory the Great Auditorium.

Concert will include wind band pieces by Japanese composers and feature Julie Giroux's "Bookmarks from Japan," as well as a special performance by Shamisen Knoxville!

Prior to the concert, beginning at 6:00 PM, will be a mini-festival that will include demonstration booths including a Kimono display and Kendo demonstration!

Tickets are $10 a person and can be purchased in advance here

Appalachia’s first concert of the season. Presenting works by Omar Thomas, Joaquín Turina, David Gillingham, Ed Huckeby, and featuring the world premier of “Looking Back, Moving Forward” by Maryville College alumnus, Chris Blankenship.

Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5.00 or more to help us reach our end-of-year fiscal goal of $2,500!

Concert will take place in Room 135 of the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center (Band Room).
